Cambodia tours & holidays

Cambodia is more than Angkor and its history. Our small group tours go beyond the temples into the Cardamom rainforest, rural villages, and everyday life shaped by the monsoon.

Overview

An introduction to Cambodia

Cambodia tours tend to start at Angkor — and rightly so. The temple complex at Siem Reap is one of the great wonders of the world, and nothing quite prepares you for it. But what keeps travellers talking long after they return is everything else: the Cardamom Mountain rainforest, the quiet seafood coast of Kep, the rural rhythm of Battambang, and the people — warm and generous in a way that stays with you.

Our small group Cambodia tours are capped at 12 people, which makes a real difference when you're cycling through rice fields, sharing a homestay meal, or moving through Phnom Penh's difficult history at your own pace. We combine the iconic with the overlooked, and we never rush either. If you want more time in the region, our Laos and Cambodia Encompassed tour extends the journey to 29 days across both countries.

Beyond Angkor

Cambodia has one of the world's great temple complexes — and then a great deal more besides. The Cardamom Mountains rainforest, the rural town of Battambang, the coast at Kep: our Cambodia tour packages are built around all of it, not just the headline.

01

A Country That Earns Its Place

Cambodians have lived through colonisation, civil war and genocide within living memory. The warmth of the welcome you receive here is not incidental to the experience — it is the experience. Small group Cambodia travel allows you to engage properly rather than pass through.

02

Genuine Wilderness

The Cardamom Mountains are among Southeast Asia's last great rainforests — protected, patrolled and rarely visited by tourists. Two nights in a tented camp here is not eco-tourism as a concept; it is genuinely remote.

Small Groups That Actually Matter

Small Groups That Actually Matter

A maximum of 12 people changes how a Cambodia trip feels — in a village homestay, on a bicycle through rice fields, at the Killing Fields. You move at a human pace rather than a tour-bus one.

Highlights

The highlights of Cambodia

Angkor Wat at Sunrise

Watch the sun rise behind the towers of Angkor Wat before the day-trippers arrive — one of the most iconic sights in Southeast Asia, and genuinely worth the early start.

Ta Prohm Jungle Temple

Wander through Ta Prohm, where ancient stonework is wrapped in thick tree roots and the jungle presses in from all sides — atmospheric in a way that photographs barely capture.

Two Nights in the Cardamom Mountains

Spend two nights in a tented camp deep in the Cardamom rainforest, surrounded by waterfalls and jungle trails in one of Southeast Asia's most biodiverse and least-visited wilderness areas.

Battambang and the Bamboo Railway

Explore Cambodia's most characterful provincial town, then ride the famous bamboo railway — a local-built contraption that remains one of the most enjoyably absurd travel experiences in the country.

Cycling Through Rice Fields

Spend an afternoon on a bicycle, moving slowly through the paddy fields and villages around Siem Reap — a completely different side of Cambodia to the temple circuit.

Homestay with a Cambodian Family

Stay the night with a local family in rural Cambodia, sharing a meal and a glimpse of everyday life that no hotel could provide.

The Seafood Coast of Kep

Wind down on Cambodia's quiet southern coast — fresh seafood, a relaxed pace, and almost no other tourists.

Phnom Penh's Difficult History

Visit the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in the capital — sobering, essential, and handled with care by knowledgeable local guides.

Cambodia rewards travellers who slow down — the best stories are found off the tour-bus route.

When to go

Picking the right season for your trip

Our Cambodia tours depart in October, November and February - all excellent times to visit. November sits at the start of Cambodia's dry season, when humidity eases, skies clear and the landscape is still lush from the rains. October departures (on the Laos and Cambodia Encompassed tour) catch the very end of the wet season - roads are passable, crowds are thin and the countryside is vivid green. February is deep dry season: warm, sunny days and cool evenings, ideal for exploring temples and jungle trails.

Jason was very helpful and the booking process was quick and easy. UD offers itineraries that many competitors do not. I thoroughly enjoyed both trips I've taken with them. While they may not suit everyone, I have happily recommended the Senegal tour to fellow travellers.

I really appreciated Jason's help in answering all of my many questions re: Senegal trip in December 2025. I have a physical disability and I had a lot of accessibility questions for Jason! He was a true professional and was very supportive, warm and friendly and helped me a lot in making my decision to go ahead with the Senegal trip. I would like to thank Jason particularly for this service. I truly appreciate it and I am very thankful.
