Cambodia – To the Temples and Beyond

At the time of writing, British, US and Australian nationals require a visa for tourist travel to Cambodia. Visa requirements and fees can change, so please check before booking and again before travel:

All travellers must hold a valid passport for entry into Cambodia. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of departure from the country. We strongly recommend checking your expiry date well in advance of travel, and allowing sufficient time for renewal if needed. Cambodian immigration authorities may also require a minimum of two blank pages in your passport.

Cambodia is a malaria-risk area and anti-malarial medication is strongly recommended for travel to rural regions, including the Cardamom Mountains. A number of routine vaccinations are also recommended for travel to Southeast Asia — including hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus — and a yellow fever certificate may be required if you are travelling from a country where yellow fever is present. Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of booking with Undiscovered Destinations. Your policy must cover medical expenses, emergency repatriation and the full duration of your Cambodia trip, including all activities included in the itinerary.

Cambodia has two distinct seasons: a dry season roughly November to April, and a wet season from May to October. Temperatures are warm year-round, with November and February particularly comfortable for travel. The US dollar is widely accepted alongside the Cambodian Riel; carry some small-denomination cash for markets, tuk-tuks and tips, though hotels and larger restaurants accept card payments. Drink bottled water throughout your Cambodia trip — tap water is not safe to drink. Tipping is customary for guides and drivers and very much appreciated, but is entirely at your discretion.
