  1. Ghost Dance & Anyi Monarchy of Abenguru

In Abenguru, the group meets the Anyi monarchy to learn regional history and the role of traditional kings. The day culminates with the Ghost Dance, an ancestral trance ritual performed before dinner.

  2. Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, Yamoussoukro

Yamoussoukro is home to the Basilica of the Virgin of Peace, described in the itinerary as a copy of St Peter's in Rome. The Presidential Palace and the Biax Foundation, which hosts government meetings, are also visited.

  3. Zaouli and Goli Mask Dances in Baulé Territory

Passing through Baulé territory, the group witnesses the Guro people's Zaouli mask dance, created in the 1950s and reportedly inspired by a girl named 'Djela Lou Zaouli.' The Goli mask dance follows, adding a second rare ceremonial performance in a single day.

  4. Senufo Craft Traditions & Boloy Dance, Korhogo

Korhogo, the 13th-century capital of the Senufo people, reveals traditional clay bead makers, weavers, and dressmakers. A full excursion day adds rare tribal iron smelting, pottery, wood carving, the Museum of Gbon, and the Boloy panther dance performed by initiated young men.

  5. Iron Forging, Sacred Village Architecture & Ngoro Dance, Boundiali

Around Boundiali the complete iron-forging process is observed from furnace extraction through final polishing. Senufo villages display large clay granaries and sacred houses decorated with bas-reliefs, and the Ngoro dance — a virgin girls' initiation ceremony — is witnessed.

  6. Fulani Nomads & Malinké Dozo Hunters, Odienne

Fulani nomad villages near Odienne showcase pastoral traditions. The Malinké Dozo hunters, dressed in traditional costume and carrying amulet-covered shotguns, perform fire and knife-resistance dances.

Jason was very helpful and the booking process was quick and easy. UD offers itineraries that many competitors do not. I thoroughly enjoyed both trips I've taken with them. While they may not suit everyone, I have happily recommended the Senegal tour to fellow travellers.
