Overview

An introduction to Morocco

Morocco is a country made for overland travel, where historic cities, ancient medinas and dramatic landscapes unfold as you journey across the country. Our adventures offer a different way to experience Morocco, travelling by rail and road through places such as Tangier, Fez and Marrakech, or heading south from Agadir through traditional towns and along the spectacular Atlantic coast. The emphasis is on the journey itself, experiencing the gradual changes in scenery, culture and atmosphere along the way.

Our programme in Morocco is deliberately small and forms part of two distinctive overland adventures. Travel from London by rail through France and Spain before crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and continuing through Morocco to Marrakech, or take the adventure considerably further on our journey from Agadir towards Dakar. The latter heads south through Tiznit and Guelmim before continuing into the remote landscapes of Western Sahara and onwards through Mauritania to Senegal. For those looking for the ultimate experience, the two journeys can be combined to create one remarkable overland adventure all the way from London to Dakar.

When to go

Picking the right season for your trip

Sweet spot: Oct

Our Morocco journeys depart in October, an excellent time for overland travel when the intense heat of summer has generally eased. Days are typically warm and sunny, particularly in the south, while evenings can be noticeably cooler, especially inland and in desert regions. Travelling at this time of year provides comfortable conditions for exploring Morocco’s cities and medinas, as well as for those continuing south through the more remote landscapes of the Atlantic Sahara.

What travellers say about us

Reviews from across our small-group programme. Independently rated 4.9 Excellent on AITO by 250+ travellers.

Jason was very helpful and the booking process was quick and easy. UD offers itineraries that many competitors do not. I thoroughly enjoyed both trips I've taken with them. While they may not suit everyone, I have happily recommended the Senegal tour to fellow travellers.

I really appreciated Jason's help in answering all of my many questions re: Senegal trip in December 2025. I have a physical disability and I had a lot of accessibility questions for Jason! He was a true professional and was very supportive, warm and friendly and helped me a lot in making my decision to go ahead with the Senegal trip. I would like to thank Jason particularly for this service. I truly appreciate it and I am very thankful.

Foreign Office travel advice

The FCDO does not currently advise against travel to Morocco generally. Travellers should nevertheless check the latest official advice before booking and again before departure.

For travellers continuing south on our Atlantic Sahara journey, the FCDO has specific warnings covering parts of Western Sahara. Our planned route is designed to avoid the areas to which the FCDO advises against all travel.
