  1. Satemwa Tea Estate

A guided walking tour of the world-recognised Satemwa Tea Estate is followed by a tea tasting workshop featuring white, black, gold, and flavoured teas. After the tasting, lunch is taken at the luxurious Huntingdon House. The afternoon returns to Game Haven for optional poolside relaxation, walking, mountain biking, or golf.

  2. Zomba Plateau and Market

The route passes through Limbe and pauses at the vibrant and colourful Zomba market before ascending the plateau to Ku Chawe Inn. The afternoon includes a walk to the dam and along the stream, passing the trout farm.

  3. Liwonde National Park Game Drive and Mvuu Camp

From the plateau the route leads to Liwonde National Park, where an hour-long game drive through the park delivers guests to Mvuu Camp in time for lunch. The afternoon features a further game drive through the park before dinner at the lodge.

  4. Boat Safari on the Shire River

A full day at Liwonde Park includes morning and afternoon game activities, with the choice of a boat safari or game drive. The boat safari explores the river that runs through the park, offering wildlife sightings from the water.

  5. Cape Maclear and the Fishing Villages

A river crossing by boat is followed by a drive to Cape Maclear, stopping en route to experience the fishing villages and Mangochi. Arrival into Cape Maclear is in the early afternoon, with the remainder of the day at leisure on the shores of Lake Malawi.

  6. Lake Malawi Water Activities

A full day at Cape Maclear is devoted to exploring the lake, with optional boat trips, scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing available. The day is flexible, centred entirely on the lake and its shores.

Jason was very helpful and the booking process was quick and easy. UD offers itineraries that many competitors do not. I thoroughly enjoyed both trips I've taken with them. While they may not suit everyone, I have happily recommended the Senegal tour to fellow travellers.

Common questions

Things travellers usually ask

  • How many travellers will be in my group?

Maximum 12 travellers — that's the cap on every Undiscovered Destinations small-group tour. Small enough to eat in a local family home; large enough to share the wonder with other like-minded travellers.

  • How fit do I need to be?

Fitness requirements vary by itinerary, from gentle to demanding. The day-by-day tour dossier sets out walking distances, terrain and any altitude so you know what to expect. If you have specific concerns, speak to our team before booking — they can talk you through a typical day.
