Arrival at Muscat International Airport. After immigration and customs formalities, meet your driver in the arrivals hall and transfer to your guest house in Muttrah. Early check-in is included, allowing time to rest after your flight.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the most impressive religious buildings in the region. Set on an elevated podium, the mosque accommodates up to 20,000 worshippers and is renowned for its exquisite architecture, including the vast hand-woven Persian carpet and an ornate chandelier.

Continue to the National Museum of Oman, the country’s premier cultural institution, housing over 7,000 artifacts displayed across 14 galleries that trace Oman’s history from early human settlement to the modern era.

Enjoy a photo stop at Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial residence of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, framed by the historic Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali.

Later, explore the atmospheric Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arabian Peninsula. Wander through its narrow alleys filled with spices, frankincense, silver jewellery, khanjars (traditional daggers), and handicrafts.

Conclude the day with a visit to the Royal Opera House Muscat, an architectural landmark and a symbol of Oman’s commitment to arts and cultural exchange.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin a scenic drive along Oman’s spectacular coastline toward Wadi Tiwi, where the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Oman meet rugged cliffs and sandy coves.

Your first stop is Wadi Arbayeen, one of the region’s most beautiful and less-traveled wadis. Set between dramatic limestone mountains, this picturesque wadi is known for its emerald pools, flowing streams, and tranquil atmosphere. Lush vegetation lines the wadi floor, making it an ideal spot for short walks, photography, and enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings.

Continue onward to the famous Bimmah Sinkhole, a striking natural limestone crater filled with shimmering turquoise water. Legend says it was formed by a falling meteor, though science attributes it to the collapse of underground limestone. The vivid colors and unique formation make this one of Oman’s most photographed natural landmarks.

From here, travel on to Wadi Tiwi

Check out. Today, you explore Wadi Tiwi, a lush and narrow gorge carved deep between towering cliffs. This fertile valley is dotted with traditional Omani villages, dense date palms, banana plantations, and thriving farms sustained by ancient falaj irrigation systems. Walk into the charming village of Harat Bidah, where stone houses cling to the mountainsides and clear water channels weave through the greenery—an excellent opportunity to capture stunning photographs of this dramatic landscape and glimpse authentic rural life.

Continue from here to Sur, once a major centre of dhow-building and maritime trade. Visit the Dhow Factory and Museum.

Continue to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful oases. Enjoy time to walk and swim in the clear blue pools surrounded by palm groves and rugged mountains (a short walk of approximately 500 meters from the parking area).

We head into the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. After some exciting sand dune driving we reach our desert camp for the night.

Today is at leisure to relax. Alternatively, there are a number of optional activities that can be arranged from the camp such as lunch at a Bedouin house, camel trekking and hiking. The activities can either be arranged on the spot subject to availability or they can also be booked in advance so please advise us if you would like the full list), or just simply take in the views over the dunes and relax by the pool.

Drive to Mudaibi, a village known for its Bedouin heritage and traditional crafts. Visit the archaeological site of Al Gharyein, a 5,000-year-old Bronze Age settlement revealing early farming, herding, and trade activity.

Continue your drive toward the interior of Oman. Visit Jabrin Castle, a beautifully preserved 17th-century fortress known for its painted ceilings, carved doors, and elegant plasterwork.

Continue to Bahla, one of Oman’s oldest towns and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its monumental fort and traditional pottery (pottery workshops closed on Fridays and public holidays).

In the late afternoon, arrive in Misfah Al Abriyeen, a picturesque mountain village. Enjoy an evening walk through its narrow alleys, terraced farms, and ancient falaj irrigation channels, gaining insight into village life that has changed little over centuries.

After breakfast, drive to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest peak (approx. 3,000 m). From here, admire sweeping views over Wadi Ghul, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Oman.” Enjoy time along the famous Balcony Walk, a scenic trail offering spectacular canyon views (easy to moderate level; suitable for those comfortable with heights).

Later, continue to Nizwa and check in to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk through Nizwa’s historic old town, exploring its ancient walls, traditional architecture, and lively souq atmosphere.

Early morning visit to the famous Nizwa Cattle Market (Friday only(, a must experience lively cultural event where locals gather to trade livestock in a centuries-old tradition.

After breakfast and check-out, drive to Jebel Akhdar, known for its terraced villages, dramatic mountain scenery, and cool climate. Walk through villages such as Saiq and Al Ain, and admire the terraced gardens.

Rest of the day at leisure

This morning, visit Al Shuwgra Village. Located on the cliff top. Built within the rocks of the mountainside this ancient village gives a really good taste of how life looked like many years ago in this area. Total population of this village is 40. Here you can pause for a refreshment before returning to your guest house.

Please note, the vehicle does not go up to this village. The vehicles will be parked on the road side and guests will have to trek down and cross the dry wadi across a wooden bridge.

Later check out from the Guest House (check out time 1200 hrs) and drive to Muscat Airport ( approx. 2 hrs.30 mins drive)

Arrive at the airport for your evening flight and drop off your vehicle. Alternatively stay at an airport hotel for departure the next day depending on teh flight time.
