Romania has a continental climate with four distinct seasons. Spring (April to June) is mild and green, with wildflower meadows in the Carpathians and manageable crowds at the painted monasteries and Saxon villages. Summer (July to August) brings warm temperatures and long days, but can be busy at popular sites such as Bran Castle and Sighisoara. Autumn (September to October) is widely considered the finest season — the Carpathian forests turn amber and gold, the Danube Delta is still warm enough for boat exploration, and rural life continues at its most vivid.
