On arrival in Antananarivo, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in and relax following your journey.

Known affectionately as Tana, Madagascar's colourful capital is spread across a series of hills and offers a fascinating introduction to the island's history and culture. Depending on your arrival time, there may be an opportunity to begin exploring the city or simply relax at the hotel.

Today you leave the capital and travel east towards Andasibe National Park, entering a greener and increasingly lush landscape as you leave the urban environment behind.

En route, visit Peyrieras Reptile Park, where you can discover some of Madagascar's extraordinary reptiles and amphibians. The park provides an excellent introduction to the island's endemic wildlife, with opportunities to see chameleons, frogs, geckos and other fascinating species.

Continue to Andasibe and your lodge, surrounded by the lush vegetation for which eastern Madagascar is renowned.

After dark, enjoy a short night walk, when the forest takes on an entirely different character. With the assistance of a local guide, look for nocturnal wildlife including frogs, chameleons and other creatures that become active after sunset.

Andasibe National Park

Andasibe National Park offers one of Madagascar’s most memorable rainforest experiences, with lush, mist-covered forest providing a natural habitat for an extraordinary variety of endemic wildlife. The park is particularly renowned for the indri, Madagascar’s largest lemur, whose distinctive call can often be heard echoing through the forest, while guided walks also provide opportunities to encounter other lemurs, colourful chameleons, frogs and endemic birdlife. The well-established trails wind through dense vegetation of towering trees, orchids, ferns and mosses, creating an immersive experience in Madagascar’s remarkable eastern rainforest. Today discover the fascinating Mitsinjo Reserve, a community-managed area of rainforest close to Andasibe.

Accompanied by a local guide, follow forest trails through lush vegetation while looking for some of Madagascar's distinctive wildlife. The reserve is particularly rewarding for those interested in lemurs, birds, reptiles and amphibians, and your guide will help identify the species encountered along the way.

Return to your lodge later in the day and enjoy a relaxing evening in the peaceful surroundings of Andasibe.

Today is dedicated to the wildlife and rainforest of Andasibe National Park.

Accompanied by your guide, explore the forest trails in search of Madagascar's remarkable lemurs and other endemic wildlife. The dense rainforest provides a beautiful setting for walking, with towering trees, abundant vegetation and the sounds of the forest surrounding you.

Later, visit Lemurs Island, where you can observe several species of lemur at close quarters in a natural forest setting. The experience provides excellent opportunities for photography and is particularly enjoyable for families and wildlife enthusiasts.

Enjoy a further night walk on the edge of the forest looking for nocturnal nature.

Return to Manjarano Lodge for a relaxing evening.

Optionally take a last walk in the park to observe more endemic flora and fauna.

After breakfast, leave the lush forests of the national park and retrace the route towards Antananarivo.

The journey provides an opportunity to appreciate the changing landscapes of central Madagascar as you return towards the capital.

On arrival in Tana, check in to San Cristobal and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure before the next leg of your adventure.

Today marks the beginning of the relaxing second half of your Madagascar adventure.

Transfer to the airport for your charter flight to Anjajavy. Anjajavy is exceptionally remote and cannot be reached by road; the lodge is accessed by air, adding to the sense of arriving somewhere truly special.
